Sophie Meiklejohn, Head of Property Claims at Miller, has recently been honoured with the ‘Women to Watch’ Award by Business Insurance.

The annual award, which started as a recognition program in 2006, celebrates outstanding women leaders in the commercial insurance industry, acknowledging their exceptional contributions and influence. It highlights the crucial role that women play in shaping the industry’s future and driving positive change.

Sophie Meiklejohn is no stranger to the world of insurance, having dedicated over 14 years to this evolving industry. With a career marked by unwavering dedication, expertise, and a passion for diving positive change, she has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is achievable in the sector. Sophie has significant expertise in, and a strong track-record of, handling a broad range of wholesale and retail claims, including managing some of the largest US property catastrophe losses in recent years. At Miller, Sophie has an approachable leadership style, creating a supportive environment for her team and playing a hands-on role in the coaching and mentorship of junior staff members.

As an advocate for diversity and inclusion, Sophie has worked tirelessly to create a more inclusive and equitable industry. She has actively mentored and empowered the next generation of insurance professionals, setting the tone for a more diverse and dynamic future. Sophie is currently developing a ‘Women supporting Women’ group, in conjunction with industry peers. This initiative aims to support women across the market to build self-esteem and self-belief during transitional periods, such as maternity or menopause.
