Rupert Atkin
Rupert became Non-Executive Director in 2025 and has a long-standing and highly respected history in the insurance industry. He formed Syndicate 1183 in 1990, which grew significantly under his leadership, trading profitably for 25 years and was sold in 2007 to Validus, having been capitalised as Talbot in 2002. Rupert served as CEO for nine years before stepping down in 2016 to become Non-Executive Chairman.
In addition, Rupert has held various non-executive and chairman roles across the insurance market, including positions with Whitespace, Amwins, Ark Underwriting and Miller’s acquisition, Alwen Hough Johnson (AHJ). He served as Chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association from 2012 to 2015, became a member of the Council of Lloyd’s in 2006 and was deputy chairman of Lloyd’s from February 2014 through January 2016.
