What you’ll do:
In this role, you will drive the effective use of technology across the LLP to strengthen business protection, enhance the quality and efficiency of client service, and support sustainable profitability. This includes identifying and implementing digital solutions that streamline processes, reduce risk, and improve how we deliver value to our client’s, ensuring technology is embedded as a key enabler of both operational excellence and commercial success.
Tech, Data and Innovation
The team supports and enhances all technology-based services to Miller with the aim of supporting and extending the business’ service range and excellence. Activities are carried out and managed against the Corporate Business Plan and Board/Business Unit priorities.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop the architecture, tools, procedures and methods employed in the application environment in line with technical advances and business requirements
- Ensure that developments are carried out in accordance with established Standards. Participate in the establishment of development procedures and standards
- Participate in the process of selecting the solution most appropriate to the stated business requirements
- Work on development projects as assigned
- Perform assigned responsibilities as delegated by more senior members of the department.
- Provide cover as required for other developers
- Provide supervisory and training assistance for more junior members of the team, as appropriate
- Take responsibility for the support and maintenance of existing applications and systems as assigned
- Adhere to and meet fully the expectations of Miller, as set out in its policies and procedures, training material, and embedded in its systems and controls. Our policies and procedures are written to encapsulate the compliance, legal and financial crime related legislation and regulations which apply to Miller
- Comply with any external rules and requirements imposed on individuals performing their role at Miller, such as Lloyd’s byelaws and FCA rules
- Promote Miller brand and values to enhance Miller’s reputation in the market
Qualifications
Desirable:
- Relevant degree-level qualification
Knowledge
- MuleSoft Developer Certifications
- Good knowledge of enterprise integration concepts and approaches, (e.g, REST, SOAP, RPC), and integration patterns (Sync/Async, Batch, Pub-Sub)
- Knowledge of microservices architecture, API-led architecture and API design best practices
- RDBMS systems such as SQL Server, MySQL
- A good understanding of design principles and writing reusable and clean code
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Desirable but not essential: C#, Salesforce, SQL
Experience
- 1-2 years hands on experience developing and maintaining Mule runtime 4.x applications
- Experience working with Anypoint platform including CloudHub (1.0 or 2.0)
- Experience integrating with Salesforce.com, SQL Server, SOAP/RESTful APIs desirable
- Experience with common web connectivity and integration standards/protocols
- Experienced using version control tools e.g. Git
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipeline environments, e.g. Maven
- Experienced writing unit tests using appropriate tools e.g. MUnit
- Experience with the entire API development lifecycle from design & build to governance & management
- Experience in working in an Agile environment
