Mock Trials

Miller frequently collaborates with partner law firms to run mock trials, aiming to help attendees understand what happens when a case goes to court.

What is a mock trial?

A mock trial is an interactive and immersive experience where you can observe a civil or criminal court process. They can demonstrate how witness evidence and documentation are presented and challenged in court to determine a legal decision.

Example scenarios include:

  • an employee falls from a height whilst working on your construction site, which proves fatal
  • a member of the public slips whilst in your shop and brings a claim for negligence
  • an employee has a fall from the back of a delivery vehicle, suffering life-changing injuries and is bringing a compensation claim.

"Our mock trial event organised by Miller formed part of our ongoing commitment to raise awareness of what happens if we don't do things the way we are supposed to."

Why is a mock trial important?

No matter how hard a business tries, sometimes things go wrong.

It’s vital to ensure that you and your employees are in the best possible position to protect the company’s interests if an incident occurs that results in significant injury, loss, or damage.

Mock trials are invaluable for all organisations who wish to be proactive and stay prepared. They provide many advantages, including the following listed below.

1. Trial preparation

Prepare your business and employees for any potential legal cases you face. Simulate your circumstances. Challenge witness testimonies and your arguments. Test your nerve under pressure. Gain jury insight.

2. Claim defensibility

Strengthen your business and your people. Enhance your credibility. Gain foresight to refine processes. Consider the importance of accident investigation and capturing evidence.

3. Enhancing knowledge

Understand the implications of performing health and safety measures poorly. Develop your employee’s knowledge of their responsibility. Learn how defendants’ actions and statements can influence the trial decision.
