BRUSSELS

Facultative strategies that speak your language

Meet our Facultative Reinsurance team in Brussels

In facultative reinsurance, many brokers start with this question: what capacity is available in London today? For cedents, that approach often means solutions shaped more by market appetite than by their own business needs.

Our team in Brussels doesn’t work that way. We always start with you and your strategy.

Supporting you through every cycle

After several years of hard market conditions, facultative reinsurance in Europe is softening. Capacity is returning, competition is increasing, and cedents are seeing more favourable terms.

On the surface, this is good news. But it also brings a challenge: how to take advantage of better pricing and conditions without sacrificing quality or alignment with long-term strategy.

This is where a client-first broker makes all the difference. Instead of chasing the lowest rate or quickest deal, our team helps cedents and brokers design placements that strengthen resilience, protect competitiveness, and support business goals – whatever the market cycle.

Working with you, thinking like you

Many of our team started as in-house brokers at AIG. That experience gives us a genuine understanding of how cedents operate: the underwriting pressures, the capital considerations, and the trade-offs between growth and risk.

That perspective means our advice is shaped by your priorities and what success looks like from your side of the table.

Multilingual local experts, multiple specialist teams, all connected as one

Together with our colleagues in Paris and London, we make up Miller Europe Facultative. We speak multiple languages and work seamlessly across borders, helping cedents and local brokers in Western and Southern Europe – and soon, the Nordics – access facultative solutions that fit their objectives.

Equally important is our deeply connected culture and alignment with our Treaty team and P&C teams. If you come to us with a request that sits outside our expertise, we know we’ve got someone in our international group who can help.

Client-first – so we can get the right results from our market partners

But what really sets us apart is our mindset. While many facultative brokers start with the market, we start with the client. That means asking: what are you trying to achieve? Where are you under pressure? Where do you want to grow? Only then can we build placements that make sense.

As market conditions shift, our Brussels team is tracking market appetites closely, helping clients judge when and how to adjust their strategy. Whatever your ambitions might be – protect profitability, sharpen competitiveness, free up capital, or create growth – we’re ready to help you achieve them.

Who we work with and what we offer

Our clients are mainly cedents writing large and complex risks. But we also work with local brokers who can take advantage of our expertise, international reach and strong network of reinsurer relationships.

We work across a wide range of industries, including:

  • Automotive manufacturers
  • Chemical manufacturers
  • Construction
  • Electronics
  • Energy companies
  • Engineering
  • Food
  • Heavy industry
  • Infrastructure projects
  • Power generation

We also specialise in political violence and terrorism coverage, as well as portfolio facilities.

Speak to the team

Whether you’re responding to today’s softer market or planning for tomorrow’s risks, we’re ready to help you turn facultative into a strategic advantage.

Set up a meeting with the team today and we’ll get started.
