Miller’s Culture Alliance, a group of colleagues who help drive forward Miller’s work in the Diversity &Inclusion (D&I) space, recently hosted an internal event aimed at sharing more with colleagues about Miller’s D&I goals for 2022.

Miller colleagues were able to learn more about current levels of diversity within the insurance industry, as well as the ambition Lloyd’s has set that one-third of all new hires across the market should come from ethnic minority backgrounds and this should be targeted at all levels of organisations including leadership, and not just focused on early careers.

At Miller, we recognise the importance of our business reflecting the diversity of the clients and partners we work with, and members of Miller’s HR team shared more at the event on how they will be working with team leaders looking to hire in the next 12 months to attract diverse pools of job candidates.

The event was also notable for featuring insight from both Junior Garba – co-Founder of the African-Caribbean Insurance Network (ACIN) – and Chelsey Sprong, Inclusion Manager at Beazley. Junior shared more on how the ACIN, through its recruitment arm, can help Miller build more diverse candidate lists for jobs in the future, whilst Chelsey provided an excellent insight into the data-led approach to D&I being taken at Beazley.

The event ended with the Culture Alliance’s Executive Sponsor - Head of DAPR, Tim Norman – sharing his thoughts on why it is vital for Miller and the wider London market to engage with this discussion.

“It’s actions rather than words that drive change, and we all need to work together to achieve our goals.”

- Tim Norman, Head of DAPR and Culture Alliance Executive Sponsor

Diversity brings benefits to our people, our clients and our business, and this event brought colleagues together to learn what Miller is looking to achieve in this space and what they can do to help make it happen.
