Part of Alert:24’s risk advisory team, Tim works with a broad spectrum of clients to identify and understand their political and security exposures to inform the most appropriate mitigating measures.
He has lived and worked extensively in Central America, Asia and Africa as a political and security risk management consultant and trainer, encouraging a context-driven understanding of risks.
Tim trained at Sandhurst and served for ten years in Asia, the Middle East and Northern Ireland as a Gurkha Rifles officer. Subsequently, he served as an International Red Cross Relief Delegate, ran the Country Office in a Cessation of Hostilities initiative in Asia and spent five years overseas as a Risk Management and Conflict Adviser to the British Government and latterly the United Nations in Nepal.
Tim holds degrees from SOAS, Oxford and Cambridge Universities. His academic interests lie in the political economy of Fragile and Conflict Affected States (FCAS), global and imperial history and insurgency, past and present. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a trustee of Shelter Centre.
