Working with a US retail broker, Miller’s London market-leading Sports & Entertainment team recently placed contingency cover for a US music tour, protecting the insured against event cancellation and non-appearance.

The challenge

The insured was soon to embark on a country-wide music tour of some 50 shows, including both indoor and outdoor appearances, and was interested in covering their performance guarantees if the events were cancelled.

They had no previous experience of having to cancel a show and its impact, and weren’t fully committed to purchasing cover. Their sensitively to the cost of risk transfer was therefore a challenge, as was the speed in which cover would need to be placed if they did go-ahead.

Our response

Having approached numerous markets with whom we hold long-standing relationships, we were able to negotiate terms that reflected the insured’s clean loss record and align our market’s view of the risk exposure with the insureds’.

We were able to design the right coverage, with the right limit, at the right price, staying within the insured’s budget. And of course bind the cover before the show hit the road.
