Graham Clarke elected as president of the Insurance Institute of London

Graham Clarke, Chief Executive, Miller, has been appointed as the new president of the Insurance Institute of London for 2013-14.

Graham succeeds Barnabas Hurst-Bannister ACII and is joined by new deputy president Stephen Riley, Executive Director, Global Aerospace.

Commenting on his appointment, Graham Clarke says “I am honoured to being taking the helm of a thriving London Institute from Barnabas during whose tenure membership has exceeded the 20,000 mark. This 11% surge has been driven by firms grasping the commercial value of demonstrating professionalism and securing Chartered status and I am delighted to announce today that Miller Insurance Services LLP, has secured CII Chartered Corporate status. Becoming a CII Chartered broker shows we are committed to our clients and our people, enhancing the excellent reputation that we are proud to uphold.

“I have been fortunate to benefit from the advice and support of key people throughout my career and so the theme for my year in office will be the importance of mentoring. The London Institute plays a vital role in keeping members of the CII in London up to date through its world-class lecture programme.”

Allison Potts, Institute Secretary/CEO of the Insurance Institute of London, added “I would like to thank Barnabas on behalf of the Insurance Institute of London and its members for his wonderfully erudite speeches and the outstanding diligence he has shown during his presidency.

“I would also like to congratulate Graham on his appointment and I look forward to working with him over the coming year continuing to raise the level of professional knowledge of those not only in the London Market but also in the global insurance market."
