Miller wins two prestigious ACORD awards

Miller has received two of the 2011 ACORD Awards, given by the global insurance standards organisation at its annual Implementation Forum in Fort Lauderdale on the third of November. The awards recognise the leading role that Miller has played in major London Market modernisation initiatives this year, which has led to more widespread adoption of ACORD’s RLC (Reinsurance & Large Commercial) data standards.

Miller received the Pioneer Award for being the first broker to implement eAccounting, which improves the automation of premium submissions to London Market insurers. They also received the Volume of Live Transactions Award for their work on eEndorsements, where they were the leading broker by volume of endorsement transactions in the initial nine months of the London implementation for marine business.

Commenting on the Awards, Steve Spicer, head of business change at Miller said, “We are proud to have won these two awards for the success we have had with eAccounting and eEndorsements in the last year. The credit must go to our employees who have undertaken these projects with tremendous enthusiasm and, at times, a fair amount of perseverance. We have been ably supported by our software supplier, Trace Isys, who has established and integrated their message gateway with our TWINS system. This is however only a starting point, and we are looking forward to both building on these foundations next year and supporting the market as a whole as more participants realise the benefits of process improvement based around the exchange of ACORD compliant information”.

Insurance Day London Market Awards 2010 - Company of the YearDecember 2010 Company of the Year - Miller

Miller has been awarded the title of Company of the Year at the Insurance Day London Market Awards 2010.

The award was presented to Chief Executive Graham Clarke at the awards which took place at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London. This is a key event in the insurance calendar and recognises excellence, achievement and innovation within the industry.

The judges felt that Miller’s successful strategy demonstrated very clearly the appeal of an alternative broking proposition for clients and employees alike. In the past year, the business has gone from strength to strength, investing in the recruitment of a significant numbers of brokers to increase the breadth and depth of core reinsurance business, broaden the direct corporate offering and strengthen its financial position.

During what has been a period of market uncertainty, it was felt by the judging panel that Miller had come through difficult times in excellent shape achieving challenging growth and profitability targets.

Commenting on the award Graham Clarke said, “I am delighted that Miller has been recognised with this prestigious award. It is an exciting time for us as a firm and to be chosen from our peers is testament to our client centred approach and the continuing commitment of our teams.”

Steve Spicer, Head of Strategic Business Applications at Miller, was also honoured as Industry Achiever of the Year for his role as an internal and market champion for e-enablement and interconnectivity initiatives.
He was praised for his ‘zeal to improve the agility of the market’ and ‘sheer enthusiasm for process reform’ which was recognised as having been crucial to the success that has been achieved to date.

Sue Langley, Director of Market Operations at Lloyd’s commented, “Ensuring take-up for the Exchange is down to ambassadors like Steve. Without his advocacy we would not be where we are today.”
