Most Innovative use of an ART Structure - UK Captive Services Awards 2014

Most innovative use of an alternative risk transfer structure

Miller, BNP Paribas (BNPP) and Allianz Risk Transfer (Allianz) were delighted to be awarded the ‘most innovative use of an alternative risk transfer (ART) structure’ prize at the UK Captive Services Awards for their optimised experience account structure.

The structure provides enhanced yields on experience funds held by reinsurers for the potential benefit of both reinsurer and reinsured.

The Awards were held on Monday 24 February 2014, at the Law Society, Chancery Lane, London.

The Miller, BNPP and Allianz model was chosen because it has ‘proved itself in the market place and includes a mix of ART and investment management.’

James Mounty who heads up Miller’s structured reinsurance offering commented:

“A tremendous amount of work has gone in to developing the optimised experience account structure. This award reflects the belief that we have in its ability to deliver a return which exceeds what our clients could expect from traditional investments in the current climate.”

Applicants were asked to explain the unusual/unique qualities of their initiative and how it has aided the wider industry.
